Between 2017 and 2024, J.M. Hart was host of the Grateful Dead themed Brokedown Podcast on Osiris Media. Now, NQRA welcomes Hart to the airwaves with a brand new radio show—(almost) no talk, (almost) all jams, Brokedown Radio.

Episode 2 has some serious attention to segues and many serious bangers. Here are just a few of the highlights in the second Brokedown Radio, here on NQRA.

Page McConnell – “Dropping In”

In late 2025, Phish’s Page McConnell surprised fans with an unannounced solo side of ambient instrumentals, appropriately titled, Something Will Land. The equally appropriately-titled “Dropping In” is one of the eight zonkathons from this disc. Dig.

Jack Kerouac/Steve Allen – “I’d Rather Be Thin Than Famous”

Taken from the legendary 1959 release, Poetry For The Beat Generation, “I’d Rather Be Thin Than Famous” includes the immortal line: “I don’t wanna be fat.” Trust your French-Canadian jazz-loving old pal to tell it like it is, daddy-o.

Old Saw – “Ribbons of Marble”

One of the great, unsung releases from 2025, Old Saw’s The Wringing Cloth album was released as a stunning (now sold out) double LP. “Ribbons of Marble” is one of the record’s highlights, featuring droning synth, and repetitive banjo strumming to send you to seventh heaven.

Matthew J. Rolin — “Candle”

Columbus, OH resident Matthew J. Rolin is one of the most studios guitar players around today, and it shows. “Candle” is taken from his collection Twos, which came out on the Dead Currencies label, collecting pieces from between 2021 and 2023.
