HEAVY LIDDING

Jeffrey Alexander has been a progressive free-form radio disc jockey for four decades, although the years spent on commercial FM weren’t that fun. He has also been a festival curator, carpenter, booking agent, espresso bar cafe owner, record label owner, driven an Amish farm truck, worked in record stores in three states, managed a few art spaces and museums, and lived in a van on tour with the Grateful Dead for several years. He plays in a few bands called Heavy Lidders and DWLVS and has previously been in a bunch of others like BF/BS and JOMF. His other current radio show – Pome Pome Tones – airs on both Electromagnetic Radio and Camp Radio France.

Heavy Lidding, exclusively for NQRA, highlights the fascinating world of outsider releases and private pressings: those LPs, cassettes and CDrs that hover on the fringes, fueled by an artists’ unique vision, usually self-funded in tiny runs without proper labels or distribution.
